Oat Milk
Instead of stealing the milk from cows, we can use oats to get equally tasty drinks. Oat milk is a great basis for many of the other recipes in this collection. While it is also sold in stores, it is easy to make oat milk at home for cheap in a few easy steps.
Hot recipe
Oat milk made by boiling oats in water. Usually results in thicker oat milk.
Ingredients
- 4 cups (1l) boiling water
- ⅔ cup oat flakes
- 1 pinch of salt
Instructions
- Boil water
- Add oat flakes and salt
- Cook lightly for 15 minutes
- Blend
- Pour result through a fine mesh sieve or nut milk bag.
- For best results, consider adding another 1 - 1 ½ cups of boiling water to the filtered oat milk.
Cold recipe
Oat milk made from cold water. Usually very liquid, but does not last as long in the fridge before going sour.
Ingredients
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 4 cups water
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp agave syrup
- 1 cup oat flakes
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients except oats.
- Wait for the ice cubes to melt.
- Add 1 cup of oats and blend for 30 seconds.
- Gently squeeze mix through a nut milk bag.
